This metal is great for jewelry because it is flexible and highly reflective. However, it is also soft and prone to losing its shape with extensive wear. To strengthen the soft metal and enhance its suitability for jewelry, it is mixed it with other metals to create an alloy (92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, mostly copper) . That's why the silver jewelry has 925 mark.
Like any other jewelry silver tarnishes after a while. Chemicals like hairspray, perfume, deodorant, body lotion, bleach, etc., can speed up the tarnishing process. To reduce this we recommend that you store them away when not wearing them. Keep it wrapped up in cloth or an air-tight protective bag. A plastic zip-lock bag is ideal for this.
Clean the silver with a soft cloth or a special silver cleaning cloth, and do not rub too briskly! Paper, polyester, and coarse fabrics can leave tiny scratches on the surface. You can clean it with baking soda! Just boil the water, add one tablespoon of baking soda and place your silver inside! This should take about 30 seconds, depending on the tarnish. Or you can take it to your jeweler and he will polish it for you!
